Rumi

Last night Jenny and I ordered pizza from across the street at like 8:30 pm, watched Friends with Spanish subtitulos, then I took a nap until 1 am. We were debating between a party nearby at MOD Rock and the classic standby Rumi. Our Mexican friend Miguel (we met him on the subte) told Jenny he was going to Rumi. And then Nick, from now on referred to as "Nico," texted me to say he was getting a group together at Rumi. So, Rumi it was. Jenny and I didn't leave our place until 2:45 am. It's getting colder here. People were leaving dinner in coats.

On the cab ride there, Nico sent me a message asking where I was. In typical Argentine fashion, I am running late. He is in El VIP. When we meet up with him (after finding Miguel and his French friend on the dance floor and giving away a few fake numbers) he asks me if I know his friend Michael from Dallas. No, but he went to St. Mark's. Do you know Sara Blaylock? Why yes, I do. It was like a Dallas reunion. So fun.

Jenny danced with Miguel all night. (Although she claims he's too short.) And I danced with Nico all night. His friends all come up to ask me, "How do you know Nico?" I get a kick out of telling them I met him at Gay night last Tuesday. He introduces me to his DJ friend, Balca. When it nears 6 am, he drives me and Jenny home in the berejena (a VW stationwagon his friends lovingly refer to as "the eggplant.") Jenny goes upstairs and Nico and I grab some coffee at the 24 hour place downstairs. He dumps two sugar packets into his cup. "It's how I stay so sweet," he jokes. He is a very nice boy.
