Friday the 13th

I'm pretty sure Jenny has been asleep since she got back from school. I finally went in to check on her. In the time she's been asleep I've:
  • booked tickets to Iguazu
  • bought way too much fruit considering I'm about to leave town on Sunday
  • bought a camping backpack that will double as my school backpack come fall
  • purchased tickets for the 1500 hs showing of the movie, when I meant to buy it for 5 pm
  • saw the Sex and the City movie with Annemarie two hours earlier than planned
  • drank yerba mate in the theatre, herein referred to as "Cinemate" (note: I did not make that up; it was the given name of the promotion.)
  • refused a Spanish interview for the news regarding the Sex and the City movie
So the movie was fabulous (albeit longer than I'd expected) and I've decided to go to Iguazu. Why not? So I marched on over (read: took the D Line to 9 de Julio, then the C Line to Retiro) to the bus station and bought my tickets. I think I was the only one there without luggage. I'm under the impression that most people just book their tickets the day of. But not me, I don't operate that way. (But I can see how backpackers just hop a bus on a whim to determine their next location in South America.) So I found Tigre Iguazu, asked the lady for ida y vuelta for Iguazu, picked out my seats, paid in cash and went on my merry way. I didn't have my passport on me, so she wouldn't accept credit card. Lucky for me I had my two hundred dollar bills leftover from Chile, and the exchange rate at the bus station was better than at the banks. So I forked over the USD and got $275 pesos in return. The round trip cost just over $100 USD at $345, but that was for Super Cama on the return route, because I figure by then,I'll be exhausted and deserve to stretch out. 17 hours is a long ride, but I figure it will be nice to get to know part of the country by land. Better charge up my iPod. On the way there I'm riding Semi-Cama, which I guess is the bus equivalent of Coach. But they feed me, and I got to opt for two vegetarian meals, so I am a happy camper. A happy camper with a new sage green backpack with more buckles than I know to do with. A happy camper with a new sage green backpack and no clue where she's sleeping on Monday night. Wish me luck!
