Bio

Change of plans. Opted to head over to Bio, then grab groceries at the Bulnes Disco on the way home. Less back and forth. This menu is incredible. Tons of quinoa grains and queso de cabra, and rucula also translated as “rocket.” I would like to order. There are American students to my right. I wonder if they should make me feel old. In a way they do, but in a way they don’t. I might have to try cocadas bio (súper naturista) because it’s only $9 ad I have no clue what it is. Although the crumble de manzana looks good. Okay, I’m ready to order now. Or at least get some agua sin gas.
No había cocadas bio, por eso le pide un crumble de manzana con helado sésamo (no hay helado de jengibre.) Dale, un crumble de manzana y un té chai. I feel like a glutton. But a super-healthy glutton. Might be my new favorite restaurant ever. If only it had a/c. I’m not sure if I ordered best, the sautéed spinach was a bit salty, but I wanted to try quinoa. It’s good. Grainy. Whole. Hearty. Next time I’ll try to bring Annemarie. And order the ballotines de queso de cabra. Yum. I might have to make this a regular treat. It’s decent in price. I mean, a plato principal and postre at Café Tolon sets you back at least $28 pesos. I’m obviously splurging today: $24 plato principal, $5 agua sin gas, $17 dessert and $6.50 tea. But it’s chai tea! It feels so authentic here, they serve it in a clay teapot over a wood tray with pots of raisins and blonde sugar. I wasn’t sure what the raisins were for, so I dropped a few in the bottom of my tea cup and eat a few plain with my fingers. I’m an American, it is my right to make social faux pas in the vegetarian restaurants in other countries. This place has table cloths, so it kind of breaks my dining alone rule. But it serves vegetarian food, so it’s worth it. I could be a regular here. Or at least come back one more time. I can’t believe I almost went two months without eating here. I’m going to be stuffed when I walk through the grocery store: yogurt, peanut butter, banana, Fiber 1, psyllium husks and a splash of Ades peach soy milk; café con leche, dos galletitias (un alfajor y uno de almendras,) butin de banana y nuez; and then this. I really would love to bow out on Museum tonight. I had thought I might try Munchi’s ice cream, but I think I’ll pass. Those guys’ pizza de hongos looks and smells amazing. The American birthday party’s food doesn’t look as good. The three girls are talking to the boy about his weight. And they complained about their host families throughout my entire meal. They don’t realize I speak English. Te puedo pedir la cuenta, ¿por favor?
