Merendia & Ecological Reserve

Piacere is a chain, but I tried it yesterday for my merendia, or teatime snack. Not quite sure what I ordered: café con leche and some kind of chocolate torte. What I had wanted wasn’t available, and the waitress was the most soft-spoken I’ve met. She didn’t steer me wrong though, this postre es riquisimo. And I think I’ll have to come back to try the individual veggie pizza. I used to stray from menus with photographs, but here I’m completely sold. Food photography seems a big industry here. The sweetener here is called Dulkre, and I don’t trust it. And now they say even Splenda might not even be safe, so I stick to sugar.
Went to the ecological reserve to check out the jogging trails and Jenny came along. It’s a beautiful place but hard to get to. And as the day went on I found my patience growing thin with Jenny. (Just this morning I had to drop what I was doing and throw on some presentable clothes because she’s too scared to ask Luis to change our light bulbs by herself.) I don’t know, I suppose it’s just hard when you spend your time with two other girls all the time. I don’t know where I fit in. I’m not the peace-maker. When Jenny was begging me to go to Hard Rock Café (in all fairness, I had expressed my odd desire to go to the nearby TGI Friday’s first,) she kept talking about macaroni and cheese. “I don’t like mac ’n cheese.” “But it’s so good!” Finally I cracked, “Look, you’re not going to convince me to like macaroni and cheese. I hate it. But I’ll order something else.” And then we walked across Puenta La Mujer, the bridge by that famous Spanish architect Calatrava, and that was that.
We met a couple from Tyler, TX as we were staring out over the roaring Rio de la Plata. It was a rather overcast day, and they seemed bewildered that so few people speak English here. I think I should write the Buenos Aires truthful tour guide.
